Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) has announced a new Mobile Internet Device (MID) product featuring a 5-inch touch screen.

The MID 160 weighs 250g and measures 15mm in thickness making it currently the slimmest and lightest MID in the world, according to the company.

The MID 160 also includes an 8GB SSD, built-in microphone, and instant messaging software, and features USI's own WiMAX module and and a 3G module from Option.

USI is currently in negotiations with first-tier vendors to form partnerships.
