China sees rising vegetable exports

China's export value of vegetables rose 35.7% year on year to US$730 million in January, with 664,000 tons of vegetables exported,  according to data released by the Ministry of Agriculture.

The country imported 9,000 tons of vegetables during the month, up 73.8% from the same month of last year, and the import value more than doubled to US$20 million.

China exported 532,000 tons of fruits in January, down 3.6% year on year. The export value totaled US$400 million, up 4.4% from a year ago. China's fruit import value during the period increased 3.3% year on year to US$170 million, with 237,000 tons of fruits imported.
