Source :Digitimes update : 2010-03-05
The state-run China Satellite Mobile Broadcasting has completed the deployment of CMMB networks in 282 cities around China and launched conditional-access CMMB services, aiming to reach 10 million subscribers in 2010 and 100 million in five years, according to industry sources.
In addition to CMMB-enabled TD-SCDMA handsets offered by China Mobile, many vendors of GPS PNDs, portable multimedia devices and notebooks have also rolled out devices supporting CMMB, the sources pointed out.
The proliferation of CMMB-enabled devices has resulted in a fierce competition in the CMMB solution segment in the China market, with China-based chipset vendors Telepath Technologies and Innofidei as well as Israel-baed Siano Mobile Silicon ranking as the top-3 vendors, the sources said.
