China¡¯s foreign debts reach US$428.65 billion in 2009

China’s foreign debts totaled US$428.65 billion as of Dec. 30, 2009, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange reported yesterday.
Short-term foreign debts totaled US$259.26 billion and accounted for 60.48% of the total, while long-term and medium-term foreign debts totaled US$169.39 billion, said the SAFE.
Outstanding foreign registered debts last year totaled US$266.95 billion. U.S. dollar-dominated debt accounted for 67.76%, while euro debt accounted for 6.38% and Japanese yen debt accounted for 11.89%.
New long-term and medium-term foreign debts were US$22.45 billion in 2009, 38.18% less than in 2008.
The SAFE announced China’s foreign debt service ratio, a measure of foreign debt service payments to export earnings, was 2.87% in 2009.
