China's fiscal revenue grew 32.9% year on year to RMB 1.36 trillion in the first two months of this year, said the Ministry of Finance in a statement published on its website.
The central government's revenue surged 36% from a year earlier to RMB 702.75 billion during the period, while local government revenues rose 29.7% to RMB 657.61 billion, according to the statement.
The MOF attributed the increase in fiscal revenue to a relatively low base figure in the same period of last year as well as to an increase in consumption taxes collected.
In the same period, the country's tax revenue climbed 35% from a year earlier to RMB 1.25 trillion, while its non-tax revenue jumped 12.7% to RMB 113.01 billion. There was a 10.2% year-on-year increase in domestic valued-added tax revenue, a 14.4% rise in corporate income tax revenue and a 34.4% surge in revenue from customs duties.
