China's General Administration of Customs said yesterday that the country exported 519,656 tons of diesel oil in July, up 22% year on year, or more than double month on month, sources reported.

The July figure is significantly higher than that of the previous month, when the country's diesel exports hit 269,982 tons.

In July, China imported 124,024 tons of diesel oil, 40% less than in the same month of last year. Gasoline exports were 315,779 tons, up 6.1% year on year, but down 22% month on month.

The increase in diesel exports were mainly attributed to a surging demand in the overseas markets, said the customs.

The output of diesel oil in July rose 4.0% year on year to 13.45 million tons. The output of gasoline climbed 0.9% from a year earlier to 6.37 million tons during the month.

Last month, China imported 1.85 million tons of fuel oil, 31% less than in the same period of last year. The country's kerosene imports were 427,148 tons, down 26% year on year, while its kerosene exports rose 7.4% from a year earlier to 546,763 tons.
