Angola becomes China's largest crude oil source

China, the second-largest oil consumer after the U.S., imported record 3.74 million metric tons of crude oil from Angola in Jun this year, 30% more than in the same period of last year, according to the latest statistics from the General Administration of Customs.

In the first half of this year, China's crude oil imports from the African country rose 24.84% year on year to 22.27 million metric tons, making Angola overtake Saudi Arabia as China's largest crude oil supplier.

China's oil imports from Iraq more than doubled in the first half, while its oil imports from Iran dived nearly one third year on year.

Oil imports from Venezuela and Brazil increased 170% and 200% year on year, respectively.

China's crude oil imports were 22.27 million metric tons or 5.44 million barrels per day in June, up 34% year on year. In the first half of this year, the country's crude oil imports jumped 30.2% year on year to 117.97 million metric tons, according to an earlier report from China Knowledge.
