Fixed-asset investment in the cement sector rose 32% to RMB 16.64 billion in November, according to a recent biweekly report from the China Jianyin Investment Securities.

In the first 11 months of this year, China's fixed-asset investment in the cement industry amounted to RMB 150.56 billion, up 59.8% from the same period of last year.

The year-on-year investment growth in the southwestern and northwestern regions reached 130% and 96%, while that in the eastern, central and northeastern regions all remained below 50%.

It is estimated that China's demand for cement in 2010 will rise 11.49% or 188 million tons from this year. The increase will be 7 to 8 percentage points lower than this year.
