Taiwan market: WiMAX operator Global Mobile offering pre-sale of iPad
Source :Digitimes update : 2010-08-06
Although the Apple iPad has not yet been officially launched in the Taiwan market, Global Mobile, one of the six WiMAX operators in Taiwan, on August 4 launched a promotional pre-sale of the iPad bundled with a 2-year contract, with the pre-sale offer effective until September 30, 2010 due to limited availability of iPads, according to the company. The company is offering the iPad starting from NT$19,999 (about US$630) and has not stated when customers would receive the devices.
According to industry sources in Taiwan, Global Mobile functions as a purchasing agent for buyers in the pre-sale, that is, the company procures iPads from overseas markets or distributors to build its stock for sale.
