WLAN chipmaker Ralink to see revenues climb upward from 2Q10 to 3Q10, says paper

Taiwan-based networking IC design house Ralink Technology is expected to see its revenues grow upward from April to May as well as from the second quarter to the third quarter of 2010 due to strong demand for WLAN chips from the US, Europe and emerging markets including China and India, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
Ralink posted revenues of NT$1.677 billion (US$53.42 million) in the first quarter of 2010, up 98.88% on year, according to the company.
Ralink's shipments of WLAN chips are estimated to top 18 million units in the first quarter of 2010 compared to 17 million units in the fourth quarter of 2009, said the paper, noting that Ralink may ship a total of 90-100 million WLAN chips in 2010, up from an estimated 52-53 million units shipped in 2009.
