BOE Technology Group Co Ltd (BOE), one of the largest LCD producers in China, yesterday began construction of its TFT-LCD process engineering lab, the first national-level TFT-LCD processing engineering lab in China, the Shanghai Securities News reported.

The lab, which involves a total investment of RMB 180 million, was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in November last year, and will be located in Beijing Economic Technological Development Area (BDA), where BOE Technology has a plant there.

Currently, NDRC has invested RMB 15 million in the lab, which is expected to complete construction by June 2010.

Earlier this month, BOE began construction on a sixth-generation (6G) LCD production line in Hefei City by investing a total of RMB 17.5 billion.
