Four Taiwan-based network equipments – Alpha Networks, Gemtek Technology, Arcadyan Technology and Sercomm – are ramping up their production capacities in China, according to the companies and industry sources.
Alpha and Gemtek are each constructing a new factory in Changshu, Jiangsu, while Arcadyan is expanding capacity at its existing plant in Kunshan, and SerComm is installing production equipment at a newly purchased factory in Suzhou, the sources noted.
Gemtek is scheduled to complete the first-phase construction of its new plant in June, and the new production lines will focus mainly on the production of e-book readers and femtocells, the company said.
Alpha began to build its new plant in October 2009 with part of the facilities to be completed in 2010. However, volume shipments of network equipment rolled out from the new plant, mostly targeting overseas markets, are not expected to begin until 2011, indicated the sources.
The overhaul project of Sercomm's newly purchased plant is slated for completion in the second half of 2010, while Arcadyan is expected to complete its expansion project in the first quarter of 2010, said the companies.
