Wireless Infrastructure Revenues Declined 15.7% YoY in Q3 2009

The global wireless BTS infrastructure market revenues declined by 15.7% for the third quarter of 2009 to USD $10.4 billion compared with the third quarter of 2008, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless Research.
"Wireless revenues showed a sequential decline which is not surprising given the seasonally weak Q3. But our concern is that Q4 may not be as robust as in prior years due to continued tight credit conditions in key emerging markets such as Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America," says founder and President, Earl Lum.
"Wireless revenues for the first nine months of 2009 are down 19.4% from 2008 levels. With an expected sequential growth quarter for Q4, we reiterate that the wireless infrastructure market may drop 15-20% in revenues for 2009 on a USD basis as the decline in the 2G GSM market offsets deployments in 3G," says Lum. "We believe that the results offer a realistic snapshot for the industry on how the overall market is progressing for 2009."
